This position will entail developing a well-rounded knowledge of the Company's operations, cost accounting processes and systems, and COPAS accounting guidelines with particular emphasis on capital and operating expenditures, joint interest billing and cost allocation. It will encompass the following:
Analyze operating expense or capital costs general ledger accounts and other ad hoc analysis requests assigned.
Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting journal entries for cost allocations, partner billings, accruals.
Accumulate data for monthly and quarterly reporting.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare correcting journal entries, if needed.
Identify and recommend process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, CPA is a plus. A Bachelor's degree in related business field with a minimum of 18 hours of accounting will be considered.
3+ years of oil and gas industry accounting experience with a concentration in operations accounting preferred
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent communications skills
Strong familiarity and working knowledge of COPAS operating agreements
Highly self-motivated with ability to multi-task and meet rigorous deadlines
Requires accuracy and strong analytical skills
Proficient knowledge of Windows, Excel, and Word
Knowledge of AS400 system, MS Query, or SQL a plus
