Manager, Software Engineer is responsible for contributing to specific projects and technical initiatives in an efficient/effective manner.  The Project Manager must possess business and technical knowledge regarding business processes, software development and associated technology tools. 
 
The project manager must know and work toward the relevant IT policies & procedures, the business requirements, the pertinent set of software development tools, as well as the organizational vision that includes application development that occurs at the enterprise level.
 
The project manager is expected to gather business requirements and technical specifications as necessary, perform or review detailed analysis, and support existing applications systems.  The skills also include estimating of tasks which can be expressed in a project plan in terms of hours and time lines with due dates.
 
Will manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide support for production issues. Candidate must be open-minded, flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment.
 
 
Essential Functions/Principal Accountabilities:
 
  • Provide application support, specifications for new development, enhancements, minor modifications, training and support services for assigned projects and applications.
  • Will support real time application, as well as mobile app, supporting the drilling-steering process 
  • Work with IS technical resources to provide high availability monitoring and maintenance for assigned applications.
  • Understand a given software project "end-to-end" specifically beginning with Business Requirements, then the appropriate Data Architecture and corresponding User Interface (UI), and culminating with finished information products such as Web Viewers, Reports, Data Entry Applications, or Data Marts.
  • Interact with users in various departments to prepare specifications for new applications, enhancements, modifications, and support issues. Also, prepare training materials and application documentation.
  • Understand the overall data integration strategy in both its current state, as well as planned future state.
  • Develop test plans for assigned projects, and coordinate end-user participation and sign-off of same
  • Actively pursue periodic developments with peer group to stay informed and contribute to other software projects occurring
  • Maintain an awareness and an updated status of projects that fall within span of responsibility.
  • Work closely with IT management to ensure project approaches, auditing, and processes adhere to development standards.
  • Develop and maintain a close relationship with the IT technical staff members to properly utilize personnel in delivering information systems that support business requirements.
  • Monitor and control the integrity of the data standards and application interfaces.

 
Job Requirements

 

 
  • 10+ years related development/application support experience, with oil and gas experience preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Mongo, Oracle, Redis
  • Strong project-oriented individual with outstanding communication skills needed
  • Required to be on-call during work and off-hours as necessary
  • Some travel required
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
